I am a former teacher, college counselor, and nonprofit director. Now, as a current MBA student, I am on a mission to improve community colleges for the many students and communities who rely on these institutions as their means of economic mobility.

This blog will be a documentation of this journey, a chance to share our successes and failures as we try to find what works in open-access higher education. This past summer, my co-founder and I (along with a team of amazing summer interns!) focused on the transition to community college with the ultimate goal of increasing the number of community college students who show up ready to learn on day 1. We piloted a near-peer advising program with tailored curriculum, conducting research into best practices around the country, and innovating additional support structures for our students utilizing design thinking strategies. After proving our model to increase matriculation rates, we will work on college persistence, success, and graduation.

I hope you will follow us through this journey and provide us feedback along the way!
